Three new Assistant Commissioners head police promotion list

-

Three Senior Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The promotion of Edgar Thomas, who heads the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Information Technology Department; Royston Andries-Junor, who heads the Strategic Planning Unit; and recently appointed `B’ Division Commander Paul Langevine, along with several hundred ranks, took effect from yesterday.

Commissioner Leslie James in a message, urged those who did not make the list to use the promotion of the others as a “catalyst” of motivation. “All is not lost, I urge that you remain resolute and steadfast in your good performance,” he said.

Expressing hope that a reformed GPF will be in place by the end of the first quarter of 2019, James said that following consultation with counterparts from the United Kingdom, the Force will be paying close attention to training, infrastructural development and human resource management.

James, in his message, said that there have been decreases in serious crimes, including gun related robberies and fatal accidents. He urged the ranks to work collectively to advance the

Force.

Aside from the new Assistant Commissioners, nine Superintendents including a woman have been promoted to Senior Superintendent; 21 Deputy and Assistant Superintendents to Superintendents; 16 Assistant Superintendent to Deputy Superintendent along with 25 Inspectors and Chief Inspectors and one cadet officer to the rank of Assistant Superintendent.
