Bartica’s annual regatta is held during the Easter weekend. This year’s activities, slated to begin the first week in April, are expected to rate higher than any other year.

“Regatta has afforded the Guyanese community over 45 years of exciting aqua sporting in Guyana. This year is aimed at being the best with the traditional sport events of annual basketball, volleyball, football, cricket and powerboat racing. We have included in this year’s calendar the Gymkhana and Regatta Comedy Show. This will be complimented by the much-anticipated Dirt Bike Racing and Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant. This annual family event promises to provide an unforgettable experience for its patrons,” the town’s mayor Gifford Marshall said in an interview.

Every year, the event attracts thousands of people from all across Guyana and from countries across the globe. This year marks one year since the Golden Beach Boulevard was commissioned by the President in time for Regatta. The newly renovated Bartica Community Centre along with boulevard will add to the festivities.

Marshall noted that venue preparations are moving swiftly. The municipality will in a few weeks commission its souvenir shop at the boulevard. Bartica Regatta souvenirs will go on sale shortly.
