Give up? What if the Coalition remains ’til 2020?

-

Now force yourselves, concerned citizens. Assume or pretend that there was no No-Confidence Vote. And no consequential challenges to the result. And no robust disputes relating to the relatively- easy- to understand constitutional provisions relevant.

Okay friends I realise I’m asking for escapist attitudes to what’s reality in this our dear land. But consider the hypothetical. And some implications.

First, accept that it is a sad and unfortunate reality

that our decent, urbane officer and gentleman His Excellency is a political wily wolf in the clothing of a smiling priest-like Vatican-type authority. Frankly speaking, I’m in personal conscientious turmoil. Why?

Well, I still prefer His Excellency to all the Dr Jagdeos and Comrade Irfaans put together. But I feel duped by His Excellency’s autocratic schemes to remain in office ’til his 2020 tenure expires. Never did I suspect that His Excellency would disrespect and trample upon straightforward constitutional provisions when I voted for his list in 2015. Even though one of his still-loyal comrades related things which happened at congresses when His Excellency won party leadership. Poor me. But suppose little me persuaded Dr Jagdeo and the ABC/EU nations to “accommodate” his Excellency’s Coalition until July/August 2020?

Since significant sections of our downtrodden are really still indifferent to the political consequences of His Excellency’s Constitutional “eye pass” and actually care little for a change of government now, just what would His Excellency and his comrades do up to May 2020? Check below.

Who says His Excellency’s “APNU”- and His Excellency’s underlings, the AFC, can’t win any elections to come? Who amongst you-all don’t know for sure, that His Excellency will have a sympathetic electorate, a sympathetic GECOM Secretariat and a sympathetic Joint Services enforcement to facilitate an electoral victory whenever?

Do not dare to underestimate my His Excellency. Here is a summarized list of events with His Excellency solidly in place ’til (even) late next year.

To ensure victory, ministers will campaign vigorously using the nation’s tax dollars. Many community and national needs, long-delayed, will be met. The poor especially will welcome this sustained relief. It doesn’t mean they’ll vote for His Excellency. Or vote at all! (2) Ministers and CEO’S will put their affairs in great order. Not unlike the allegations made against the PPP folks of recent vintage. (3) His Excellency’s military establishment will embrace its Total National Defence doctrine to quell “heightened tensions”. Just ponder the hints from the Presidency Ministry! (4) The AFC will become increasingly irrelevant in the face of JLP and ANUG. (What’s happening with the Berbician “party” FEDUP?). (5) A few jittery senior officials, not certain of their fortunes past the next elections, will fashion post-elections prosperity. (6) PPP protests will attract stern attention from His Excellency as the new opposition groupings and a divided civil society will be too “shy” to join PPP exercises. Prove me wrong. Various levels of our Judiciary will be overwhelmed by legal challenges. (7) CARICOM will be silent as the ABC– EU giants will continue shrewdly supporting His Excellency towards 2020 - First Oil. These folks hedge their bets - and support - in favour of the best of the bad lot; the better of two evils (8) His Excellency’s GECOM foursome will prevail. (9) He will think hard about SOCU or SARA detaining or charging former Ministers relevant to political /electoral strategy and (10) When the Total National Defence services move against mass civil protestations, certain opposition seething strategists will consider covert ops! More to come.

Now past seventy, I’ve mismanaged my own health/conditions and status; a few ailments too many. From inappropriate habits, life-long. But I can’t access top-flight overseas medical repair.

In an Island-State named Seaview, embraced by a mighty Sea/Ocean, a leading Minister’s daughter was rushed for specialist overseas medical treatment at a leading University Hospital. That state’s Health Minister himself was a realist about his local Health Service’s capabilities. He loved his 20-year-old. But she died anyway.

Until we in Georgetown can fashion health care for all. The best specialization at affordable cost, many will succumb. So if you are religious, pray for our Health Services folks. Let them be good. With skills, compassion and resources. In my own fashion I am offering prayers for the lasting good health of His Excellency, First Vice–President Moses, Chairperson - Cancer Warrior Health Minister Volda, Gen.Sec. Ally, quiet public service WPA Minister Dr Roopnaraine, His Excellency’s chairman Justice Patterson and CEO, former GDF Officer Lowenfield.

Whether in Georgetown or from further afield these leaders’ health must be maintained. They could superintend our affairs, our future- for years to come!

Space is running out today. So just two simple rigging-under-the PNC/APNU-watch indicators. Let’s

agree with APNU-friendly GECOM point-man Comrade Vincent Alexander: The current voters list used just last November- is About 200,000 “voters” bloated. (He says: ”The possibility of elections being

corrupted is great…”)

Now take three (3) Administrative Regions? Polling Divisions Four, Six and 10. Which Division’s Polling Places are likely to benefit? Benefit whom?

A PPP electoral activist complained to me one month ago: “Comrade (?) We have to monitor the GECOM secretariat’s selections of returning officers.

“These are influential pre-polling day and polling day officials. In 2015 APNU friendly Returning Officers possessed strange statements of polls (SOP’s) from the booths in certain Districts. They differed from those that CEO Lowenfield had at his headquarters. Explain that!” How could I? Could you?

The PPP’s trio at GECOM should know what CEO Lowenfield’s Secretariat could do. His Excellency’s

GECOM foursome are also quite knowledgeable. All these folks must combine to produce free and fair elections. Right? After all the contestants all claim to be extremely confident. Right?

1) Strangely, I feel that Go-Invest’s foreign investors will still opt to come. To join the oil and gas successes.

2) The trial of the rape-accused Sophia Muslim “teacher” must proceed! After years.

3) Name five (5) non-PPP associates of the jailed convict- Shaheed Roger Khan.

4) Come on now! The shot Principal saw him dance. Who shot Headmaster O’Toole?

5) Prime Minister Rowley abandoned Trinidad’s fine Health Services to seek his cardiac scrutiny in California, USA. Why?

6) Take two guesses: Had APNU+AFC gained 33 votes in 2014 as against Ramotar’s 32, what would have been a majority?

7) I hope the Press Association doesn’t boycott Dr Jagdeo. Because if they can’t stimulate the “other Opposition”, they’ll be quite short of news.

’Til next week! (allanafenty@yahoo.com)
