ANSA McAl recognises outstanding NGSA performers
As part of its corporate social responsibilities, ANSA McAL Trading yesterday recognised the performance of seventeen students who sat this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examination.
According to a Ministry of Education release, this initiative is an annual exercise by the company and serves as an incentive for those children sitting the examination, to perform at their best.
The company has set aside some $1.5 million for this exercise with each child receiving a haversack and $10,000 to assist with purchasing of school supplies for the new school term. ANSA McAL also announced that the top performers from the other regions will also be recognised.
In her address at the awards ceremony, Minister of Education, Dr Nicolette Henry, said that hard work and success deserve recognition and encouraged the recipients of ANSA McAL’s benevolence to continue to work hard. She cautioned the children against complacency and reminded them that this is just the beginning of a journey that can become arduous at times, but hard work brings about success.
The students were also encouraged to create their own pathways even as they prepare to begin secondary school in September.
Henry said that ANSA McAL should be congratulated for their efforts and that other companies should emulate this initiative.
Non-Alcohol Brand Manager of ANSA McAL, Errol Nelson, said his company is committed to the development of education in Guyana since this is an investment that will certainly benefit the country in the future.
Chief Education Officer Dr Marcel Hutson encouraged the recipients to continue to work in pursuit of their educational goals. Using himself as an example, the CEO said that it matters not where you began but the ending is what is important.
