Organisers expect record breaking Guyana Cup event

- (Emmerson Campbell)

Organizers of the highly anticipated Guyana Cup billed for tomorrow at the Rising Sun Turf Club are expecting a record-breaking event.

Reason? According to news reaching this newspaper, the nation’s fastest thoroughbreds, Vera’s Finally and Just Call Me Boss are on a collision course once again as both race horses have been registered to contest the feature C class, one-mile event.

A new race record is anticipated as both steeds are reportedly firing on all cylinders in training.

Since being imported in 2017, the Florida-bred Vera’s Finally has won the Guyana Cup each time along with the President Cup Championship.

The defending champion of the event and pride of the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables has only been defeated twice in five starts, both defeats were to Just Call Me Boss.

Last April and in December at the ‘Race of Champions’ , Just Call Me Boss sprung upsets of the championship chestnut filly at the Port Mourant Turf Club. A mouth- watering rematch is on the cards at Rising Sun.

Come see how the events unfold tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the card which will also have a grand mega concert featuring eight international artistes, will feature eight races. The details of the races and prize money are listed below:
