MacArthur shines as Fruta Conquerors U-20 crush Buxton Stars

- Game 1 Game 2

The unbeaten Fruta Conquerors U-20 unit dismantled Buxton Stars 8-1, when the 4th annual Limacol Football Championship continued on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The contest was effectively over at the end of the first half as the Tucville unit stormed to a commanding 3-0 lead.

Ryan Hackett opened the floodgates in the 29th minute, turning and smashing his effort into the lower right corner after latching onto a left-sided cross.

Nicholas MacArthur then got into the act in the 35th minute, stabbing into the empty net after the onrushing goalkeeper fumbled the ball into his path. MacArthur recorded his second of the night in the 45th+1 minute, racing into the left side of the box, before placing his effort past the advancing shot-stopper into the lower right corner.

Upon the resumption, Hackett made it 4-0 in the 49th minute, curling a free-kick from 36 yards in the centre of the field, which sailed into the right corner.

The Buxtonians would finally get respite in the 63rd minute as Jamali Major scored from the penalty spot.

However, the youthful Conquerors unit responded with four unanswered goals to seal the result. Wayne Baker got into the scoring act with a header down the centre of the net following a right-sided cross in the 73rd minute.

He would make his presence felt once more a minute later, slotting calmly into the back of the net following a flat rightsided cross.

Diarra Thomas further increased the score in the 84th minute with a simple finish after collecting a flat left-sided cross, before MacArthur sealed the result with a powerful shot into the roof of the net three minutes later.

Meanwhile, GT Panthers defeated Pouderoyen 1-0. Vincent Thomas scored in the 13th minute of the cagey affair. The competition continues today at the same venue with the final round of group matches.
