Cops hit wall in probe of US-based chef’s murder

-

Investigators seem to have hit a hurdle in the investigation of the murder of USbased Guyanese Andre Gordon, who was discovered dead in his Kitty apartment almost three weeks ago.

A source close to the investigation informed Stabroek News that after pursuing all possible leads, the police have not yet been able to locate Gordon’s killer/s.

The lifeless body of Gordon, called ‘Blackie’, 52, a chef of New York, was discovered around 10.30 am on September 15 by a friend who went to the Station Street, Kitty apartment, he was renting.

At the time of the discovery, Gordon was found lying face down and there was a foul scent in the apartment. It is believed that he died sometime between September 13 and September 14.

An autopsy later showed that he was strangled.

Gordon’s friend, Jude (only name given), who made the discovery, had related to Stabroek News that he decided to check on Gordon after he didn’t hear from him over the weekend. The last time they spoke, he said, was on the evening of September 13, when he left for home.

“We call him yesterday [Saturday September 14 but] we didn’t hear from him. We came here and call out for him and didn’t get a response. So this morning [September 15], I came and call back for him and it was the same thing, no response,” Jude recounted.

He said that his instincts led him to open a door and it was at this point that he realised that the doors were not secured. “When I push the first door, it open and then the grill door was open also…After I open the door, I went into the house and found him lying in the kitchen naked with blood running down his body,” the friend had said.

Gordon worked as a chef at Four Seasons Vegetarian Restaurant on Church Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. He was assisting his employers with the opening of a restaurant here.

He had only been in the country for a week period and was expected to depart hours after he was discovered dead.
