ANSA McAL onboard for Secondary Schools Football League

ANSA McAL, under the Lucozade and Icool Water brands, became the latest entity to throw their support behind the 2nd edition of the ‘GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers Secondary Schools Football League’, inking a partnershi­p agreement to become the event’s official beverage sponsor.

Speaking at a simple ceremony yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Brand Coordinato­r Fharis Mohamed said that the company is elated to be onboard with the championsh­ip, an event which provides the perfect avenue for players to hone and display their talents.

Meanwhile, Petra Organizati­on CoDirector Troy Mendonca, the coordinato­r of the event, thanked the company for their timely gesture which, he said, will positively impact on the success of the championsh­ip.

The event, which is slated to commence on Sunday, will feature 10 teams battling in a league format. The matches will be held on Sundays and Mondays, with the final match date penciled for December 8th.

The competing teams are defending champion Annandale, as well as St Stanislaus College, St Johns College, President’s College, Berbice High School, Cummings Lodge Secondary, Marian Academy, Lodge Secondary, Queens College and Charlestow­n Secondary.

The winner of the event will pocket $200,000 for a project, while the second, third and fourth place units will collect $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 respective­ly, for a school initiative. Also, the eventual victor and the runner-up will earn berths to the Goodwill Football Championsh­ip.

The opening match will pit St John’s College against St Stanislaus College from 16:30hrs while Charlestow­n will oppose Queen’s College at 18:00hrs.
