Cops still to locate suspects in murder of Venezuelan man at Grove
Police are still on the hunt for the two suspects who fatally stabbed Venezuelan national Woillian Fores on the Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) Public Road early Monday morning.
Region Four Commander Senior Superintendent Kurleigh Simon, when contacted last evening, told Stabroek News that investigators yesterday obtained several additional statements as the investigation into the matter continues. Simon added that the police are still making efforts to apprehend the suspects, who remained on the run up to last evening.
Fores, a resident of Post Office Street, Grove, EBD, was stabbed twice during the incident which occurred around 1:05am on Monday. He was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police had said that enquiries revealed that the suspects, who were on bicycles, approached Fores who was sitting on the western side of the public road.

Residents in the area had told Stabroek News that they learnt of the incident hours after it occurred. Many said they did not know Fores.
Stabroek News had learnt that Fores’ family reside in Venezuela. Reports are that he came here to seek employment.
Eight-year-old Richard Boodram, who was admitted to the hospital over two weeks ago after being severely injured during an attack by his classmates at the Mon Repos Primary School, remains a patient at a city hospital and was expected to start a new treatment yesterday.
Boodram was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital after his mother, Devika Persaud noticed him acting strangely when he returned home from school on November 1st.
The child’s mother, when contacted yesterday, told Stabroek News that her son is still a patient at the public hospital. She said that her son was seen by a number of doctors at the hospital and recently, they were told that as a result of the injury he sustained to the head, he picked up an infection.
Persaud said that she was told that “poisoning” from the nail which was in the piece of wood used to injure her son, may be the cause of the swelling of his liver and his eye.
The mother of four related to Stabroek News that while the swelling of Boodram’s eye has reduced, it is not back to its normal size. She noted that while he is now able to eat and walk around, he is unable to move his eyes. “The doctors them say they gon put he on a new treatment for 28 days that supposed to start today [Wednesday],” Persaud said. She added that she was told that if that treatment does not yield the expected results, he may have to undergo surgery.
When asked if she has received any word or has been contacted by any officials from the Ministry of Education, Persaud responded in the negative. She said that while they are hoping that disciplinary actions are taken against the students involved in the incident, her main focus is her son’s recovery. When Stabroek News visited the Department of Education’s Region Four office to inquire what is being done by the ministry as it relates to the incident, no answers were given. One official, however, noted that they are all aware of the incident.
