West Indies Uunder – 19 selectee Joshua Persaud continues to draw positive attention, putting up impressive numbers in the ongoing TT Cricket Board (TTCB) National Premiership competition at the weekend.

Persaud, on Sunday, sculptured his maiden century, an undefeated secondinnings 124 for defending champions Alescon Comets’ in their loss against Preysal Sports which has given him a sense of contentment. He called the knock his best ever.

“I’m quite happy about this because it’s my first hundred at the national level in Trinidad and for me, I think it was probably my best innings I’ve ever played,” the young man told Stabroek Sport recently.

The Demerara Cricket Club player, who has so far amassed 338 runs from four outings, said he has been receiving support from coach Debideen Mannick. Persaud noted that Mannick has been a pillar of support from the onset of his debut season.

“He [Mannick] even told me before this game that he trusts I’ll give him a bill (century) and I delivered.”

With three more twoday matches to go, the 20year-old said that he is aiming to carry his tally closer to the 600 run mark.

Meanwhile, out of favour left-hander, Trevon Griffith has also been registering measured success for Central Sports, scoring his third half-century during his side’s win over Raw Fitness Victoria Sports.

“It’s good to be scoring runs in any match… I think that’s the ultimate goal as a batsman but I’m a little disappointed that I haven’t scored a hundred as yet but that’s part of the play and I’m still working on it,” Griffith, who last played first-class cricket in 2019 told this newspaper.
