Hooper bags five, Barrackpore earns draw
Guyanese off-spinner, Eon Hooper bagged his second five-wicket haul of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board National League two-day tournament to earn Barrackpore United a draw with Endeavour Sports Club over the weekend.
Playing at Endeavor, Barrackpore won the toss and elected to bat where they posted 193 all out in 49.3 overs before containing the hosts to 155 all out in 71.1 overs.
With a first innings lead of 38, Barrackpore declared on 151 for five in their second innings, setting Endeavour 189 to win. The hosts however, held on for a draw after reaching 123 for nine at stumps.
Barrackpore’s first innings centered around Adrian Cooper who stroked eight boundaries, including a six on his way to a run-a-ball 62. He was supported by Hooper, who contributed 38 from 56 balls, laced with three fours and one six.
Deen Charles (22) and Darron Beckah (14) also provided useful contributions for Barrackpore as Stephen Shadick picked up seven for 47 in 23 overs. Chris Pattia complemented Shadick with two for 21.
Hooper returned to pick up five for 41 in 25 overs to stifle Endeavour’s batting order. He got support from Ramesh Brijlal who copped three for 38 from 16 overs.
In Barrackpore’s second innings, a brisk 36 from Cooper who added 47 for the second wicket alongside Shiva Rambaran (22). Joshua James (35) and Cephas Cooper (21 not out) pushed the total up before the declaration. Shadick picked up five for 51 to bring his match haul to 12 wickets.
Endeavour were kept in line by Rambaran who took five for 23 while getting support from Brijlal (3-52) and Hooper (1-20). Shadick top scored with 25 while Guyanese, Krishna Deosarran made 19.
