A contractor is now dead after being riddled with bullets while at a construction site in D’Urban Street, Lodge.

Dead is Kissoondatt Premsukh, a well-known contractor of 183 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

An eyewitness, who was one of the construction workers on site at the time, explained to this newspaper that he was on the roof of the building that is to be a church when the incident occurred. “We had the generator been ah wuk and the pastor come early and he ah show the pastor wah going on and he and the pastor and the pastor wife come out hay and been ah gyaff… well all ah we deh ah wuk… by time me look up me see everybody scattering and the pastor lay down on the ground… and we see the man [Premsukh] lie down bleeding.”

In a video posted on social media, Premsukh is seen being taken away in the back of a pickup truck.

Communications Manager of the Georgetown Public Hospital, Chelauna Providence confirmed to this newspaper last evening that Premsukh died before arriving at the hospital as he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Eyewitnesses who worked with Premsukh noted that this was not the first time persons have tried to take his life, as he was shot earlier this year.

It was reported that the contractor was shot about five times before the shooter/s made good their escape. Premsukh had also been at the centre of a court matter for outstanding monies involving a policeman.

Regional Commander of Region 4 (A) Senior Superintendent Philip Azore when contacted declined to make any comments. The force’s Public Relations Officer, Jairam Ramlakhan, was also unable to provide any information about the incident and up to press time, no statements were released to the media.
