Gunned down contractor had been shot at month before in Coldingen
Kissoondatt Premsukh also known as ‘Dave’, the 49-year-old contractor who was gunned down on Thursday last, was shot just over a month ago at a store in Coldingen.
In a telephone interview with Stabroek News, the elder brother of the wellknown contractor, Hardat
Premsukh, explained that his brother was involved in an argument a few days before the first shooting incident took place on
Father’s Day. “Like two days before, he and a gentleman had some problem… the person claimed that some lady had an affair with Dave and like they had a talking or whatever couple days before,” the brother explained.
“So two days after he went over by the supermarket and was gyaffing and while gyaffing a man walk in to buy water and when the person was walking out he draw out the gun and fire two shots and jump on pon them bike and go way,” he recounted.
Premsukh further explained that even though his brother was shot twice during that incident and a report was initially made, he seemingly later decided to completely forget about the incident and wanted to leave it alone. “[after the story], he just went and do he normal business like [nothing] happen,” Premsukh noted.
The elder brother of the now dead man took the opportunity to debunk claims that his brother’s death had anything to do with drugs or any other illegal activity, but instead may have been motivated by the business he was involved in. “I see people saying bout is drugs and so on... duh man got enough money and property… he used to always tell me he nah gah time with drugs and them thing, duh is why he does wuk Sunday to Sunday,” his brother affirmed.
Regional Commander of Region 4 (A) Senior Superintendent Phillip Azore highlighted to this newspaper that there is an active investigation into the matter, as the police continue to follow various leads in an effort to arrest those responsible for the contractor’s death. However, to date, no one is in police custody in connection with the executionstyle killing of the man.
Premsukh said that the family is still extremely traumatized by the entire situation and is hoping that the police can deliver justice in the quickest way possible.
According to a police brief, Kissoondatt Premsukh, of Lot 183 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, was at a construction site on D’ Urban Street, Lodge, when an armed male approached him and discharged several rounds in his direction, causing him to suffer injuries to his head and back.
He was later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at about 6:13 pm.
