-

A D’ Edward Village, West Bank Berbice fisherman yesterday morning turned himself over to police, almost half a day after he slashed his cousin’s throat during an altercation with a group of relatives.

Reaz Mohamed, 24, of Lot 1 Section ‘A’, D’ Edward Village, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was rushed on Sunday evening after the altercation.

His cousin, of the same address, fled the scene on Sunday evening but turned himself over to police yesterday morning, a police source confirmed.

The stabbing occurred around 6.30 pm.

Mohamed’s sister, Reniza Grant, yesterday said that family members were celebrating a birthday and the two men had been drinking.

According to the woman, she and her husband left the celebration to take some friends home but her grandmother called her and informed her that her brother was fighting with his father, Farook Mohamed, 50.

She learned that the younger Mohamed began to behave disorderly when the music was turned off.

She said some cousins intervened after Mohamed attempted to fight with his father. According to the police, the suspect and his brother both stopped Mohamed from attacking his father. “And them scramble and I’m not sure what happened but my grandmother said he start bleed,” the sister said.

Based on information from the police, Mohamed’s throat was slashed.

“It’s not like it was a deliberate something. It

was like a scuffle and scramble and everything just blank but it wasn’t like a deliberate something,” the sister added.

The woman described her brother, a father of two children, to be helpful, while she said the suspect was also a quiet and shy person.

She said the two men, who grew up together in the same yard, never had any issues in the past.

Hours after he was arrested by the police in connection with the murder of labourer, Colin Anthony King, whose body was found in a septic tank behind his Belle West, West Bank Demerara (WBD) home on Saturday, the suspect has admitted to the crime.

He said that after King collapsed he picked up his body and placed it in the

septic tank.

Ibrahim further told investigators that he then took King’s motorcycle and went to Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) where he pawned same for $40,000. He added that he then went into hiding.

The lifeless body of King called `Harry’ and `Pablo’ of Lot 38 Belle West, WBD was discovered in the septic tank on Saturday morning.

Prior to the discovery, King was not seen or heard from since his birthday celebration last Tuesday.

Investigators believe that King was murdered and dumped in the septic tank sometime between 9.30pm last Tuesday and 7.30am on Saturday.

Ibrahim and King lived together. Shahid Khan, one of King’s friends related to the police on Saturday that he went to King’s house last Friday morning to check on him. However, he said when he arrived there he only saw the suspect who was sitting under the house.
