Giftland donates more masks, sanitisers to police force
Giftland has donated more masks and sanitisers to the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
According to a Giftland Group of Companies release on Tuesday, it has donated 20,000 sanitisers and 20,000 masks to the Guyana Police Force to support the region in its fight against COVID-19. “This initiative reflects Giftland’s solidarity with the force as they seek to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in Guyana,” the release was quoted as saying.
The masks contain magnesium and copper, and according to researchers, while the coronavirus can survive for days on glass and stainless steel, it dies within hours after coming in contact with copper. In addition numerous studies have shown the antimicrobial effects of copper.
This is Giftland’s third such donation to the Guyana Police
Force with the last one being handed over in February of this year.
Giftland assured that its management will continue to enforce all protocols and that its Occupational Health & Safety team are working round the clock to ensure that the latest technology is being used in conjunction with best practices to ensure “the highest standard of protection for our employees and patrons.”
The company drew attention to the recent surge in cases and deaths and reminded that the pandemic is not over and that everyone “must absolutely follow all protocols.” It pointed out as well that public health workers are risking their lives in the fight against COVID-19 and expressed the hope that the worst of the pandemic’s impact passes Guyana quickly, the release added.
