Closing date for GFF/K&S Futsal c/ships is December 3

The deadline for the submission of team forms to participate in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Kashif and Shanghai Organization Futsal Championship is scheduled for December 3rd.

This is according to reports.

The organizers have conducted two team briefings with a handful of teams, with the most recent forum occurring on November 20th.

A source told Stabroek Sports that both sessions were held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, adding that approximately five teams attended the first meeting on November 13th, while approximately 10 sides primarily from outside the Georgetown environs attended the second forum.

“The first session was attended by roughly five or six teams while the second was attended by nine or 10, with the majority of them being from outside Georgetown”, the source explained.

The source also confirmed that the team lists were presented to the attendees at the second forum while further information on the COVID-19 protocols were also disseminated to the respective representatives.

“The first prize money of $1,000,000 was also confirmed at the forum but the prizes for the other top four finishers were not disclosed. The teams were told that the prizes would be known in the not so distant future, as the organizers await further confirmation of other sponsors,” the source stated.

According to the organizers at the official event launch, 32 teams have signaled their willingness to participate in the tournament.

16 teams from Georgetown are being targeted with four teams each from the East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara, West Demerara and Linden also declaring their intention to participate. The playing dates are December 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, 30th, January 4th and 8th.
