Region Nine’s Sarah Joseph captures Guyana Police Force Youth Ambassador title
Miss Region Nine Sarah Joseph captured the official crown and title when the Guyana Police Force Youth Ambassador Pageant concluded last Sunday at the National Cultural Centre and was presented with her gifts by Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken.
Sarah prevailed against 11 other contestants, who had previously won in their regions and districts. The teen girls participated in the professional wear, sportswear, talent, evening wear and question and answer segments. For her professional wear, Sarah dressed as a flight attendant, while for sportswear she dressed as a boxer. Her talent was an interpretative dance, and finally for the evening wear segment, she graced the stage in a glamorous and sparkling red dress.
Jasmine Wiggins who represented Regional Division 4(C) was first runner-up and Saskia Wille of Region Six was second runner-up. Third runner-up was Novita Pawalea of Region Seven and Ocynthia Holder of Region Two was fourth runner-up.
Although each contestant did her very best, it was the question which was asked of the top five that helped to determine their places. The question was: “If crowned queen, what is the one goal that you will develop in your community within a year?”
The answers varied and included eradicating social issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, drug abuse and much more. They also said that they would use their platform to host conferences and seminars for both children and adults in their respective communities to educate the villagers on basic life training which would further foster cohesion.
Previously, in a post on the force’s Facebook page, it was said that the regional pageants were a initiated in order to have more youths involved in the development of their regions, for them to be a voice for their communities and also for other young individuals who wish to make a positive impact and difference within Guyana at large.
