Industrial Safety Supplies Inc., sponsors rifle shooters
Industrial Safety Supplies Inc., was bang on target with a timely donation to the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) ahead of the national team’s departure for the West Indies Fullbore Rifle shooting championships next month.
The Camp Street-based safety supplies company, renewed its sponsorship by funding three of the shooters to attend the regional championships to be hosted in Antigua and Barbuda from May 7 – 14.
Daywanttie Etwaroo, Marketing and Promotions Officer, said the company was extremely delighted to be supporting the successful national rifle shooting team.
“We have been sponsoring the teams for many years and we are happy to continue with this level of support. We wish the team all the best at the championships,” Etwaroo added.
While the three shooters were not identified, veteran marksman and former regional individual champion Ransford Goodluck was given the honour to receive the sponsorship cheque from Nyeesha Joseph, accountant of the company in the presence of
Office Manager ,Cristal Kallu and several members of the team.
Ryan Sampson, secretary of the GNRA thanked the company for its generous contribution and
noted that the two entities have enjoyed a long relationship.
“We are going to perform well to make the company very proud and we look forward to a continued
relationship in years ahead and we would like to wish the company all the best also,” he added. Sampson said that several companies have made significant
donations to the team including Citizens Bank Inc., Star Party Rentals, the Guyana Olympic Association, Secure Innovation Concepts., and Queensway Inc., but he said they are still short of their budgeted expenses.
National fullbore captain Dylan Fields, said the team will depart Guyana on May 7th and will be seeking to return with the West Indies Fullbore shooting championships short range title as well as individual honours.
Apart from Fields, the other members of the touring party are Vice-Captain Leo Romalho, Goodluck, Lennox Braithwaite, Sherwin Felicien, Ryan Sampson, Mahendra Persaud, Peter Persaud and Roberto Tewari,
Two United-States shooters John Fraser and Sigmund Douglas will also be joining the squad in Antigua.
Guyana’s shooters have dominated the regional championships for many years but lost the Small Bore title at the last championships and will be going all out to recapture the title.
The short range championship is shot over 300, 500 and 600 yards’ ranges and only three ranges are available in Antigua. Guyana won the long range over 900 and 1000 yards’ ranges title last year in Jamaica.
