Residents and tourists visiting Capoey Lake in Region Two are calling on the relevant authorities to repair a bridge which they say poses a major threat to their vehicles. According to reports there is a hole is on the left side of the bridge which has been deteriorating daily.

The bridge is the main access to the Capoey Lake and the mission. Capoey Lake is one of the tourist destinations in the region. On a daily basis, persons would visit the area to relax and to take a dip in the black water.

Drivers entering the community to access the black water lake have complained that this hole poses a major threat to their vehicles. Many people have commented that they have to maneuver in such a way so that their wheels are over the side of the hole.

“Imagine persons visiting and if they are intoxicated and cannot manage to put their vehicles properly then the entire thing can lead to a mishap and cause life and damage,” a visitor said.

A bus driver who ventured from the West Coast said that he had to ensure that he took his time crossing the bridge. Reports indicate that the bridge is also deteriorating. The road leading to the community was recently rehabilitated, so now people are calling for the bridge to be fixed before anything worse happens.

When this newspaper contacted a senior official of the village they acknowledged that there is an issue and it was discussed at the village council meeting. They are unsure about how fast the hole in the bridge will be fixed but the official assured that they are aware.

Residents are calling on the regional administration to conduct emergency work on the bridge promptly.
