GFF Tiger Rentals U13 League Cup commences tomorrow

The Tiger Rentals Under-13 League Cup Championsh­ip will commence tomorrow at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre, Providence from 9:00 am.

This was disclosed by an official release from the federation. According to the release, 10 Regional Academies will compete in the event, which concludes on Sunday at the same venue. The participan­ts are East

Coast, Georgetown, Upper Demerara, East Bank, West Berbice, Bartica, West Demerara and East Berbice, Rupununi, and Essequibo.

The teams will be divided into two groups of five, with the respective group winners advancing to the championsh­ip match.

GFF Technical Officer, Bryan Joseph, said, “This component of organised competitio­n allows us to truly assess the work done by our technical officers at the respective Regional Academy Training Centres. We are looking forward to witnessing the brightest stars of the next generation go up against each other.”

According to Joseph, “These players will form the core of the performanc­e side of our football pyramid.

We’re getting a jump start on identifyin­g the talent that will be integrated into our high-performanc­e programs which will help to transform our national teams,” he added.

“We are extremely thankful to our main corporate sponsor Tiger Rentals for sharing in our vision to take youth football to the next level. A special thanks to the parents, officials, and fans for supporting the league.”

Developmen­t Football League was launched in December 2022 with the Academy Phase competitio­n which was won by the youngsters from the East Coast Academy Training Centre.

“The tournament was specifical­ly designed to develop young players’ ability to apply their knowledge of the game and to ensure that they have a competitiv­e national platform to do so,” the release stated.
