Lopsided wins for Waramuri girls, Bartica boys teams
Waramuri and Bartica recorded lopsided wins in the girls and boys’ divisions respectively when the ExxonMobil U14 Football Championships continued yesterday at the National Insurance Scheme ground, Carifesta Avenue. In the girls section, Waramuri dismantled New Campbellville 13-0. Mechelle Williams tallied six strikes in the second, 10th, 12th, 14th, 17th, and 28th minute whilst Allia Henry recorded a helmet trick in the 8th, 23rd, 25th, and 38th minute. Adding a double was Mnemasyne Peters in the fourth and 16th minute whilst Brenita Marks netted in the 34th minute.
Similarly, Bartica crushed Institute of Academic Excellence 4-0. The quartet of Arianna Joseph, Candacy Robinson, Mia Peters, and Nikesh Persaud scored in the sixth, eighth, 17th, and 38th minute respectively.
In the boys section, Bartica mauled Carmel 10-0. Riley Tracey tallied a helmet trick in the 15th, 18th, 19th and 23rd minute whilst Meshach Williamson recorded a double in the 18th and 24th minute. Supporting with goals in the 11th, 28th, 35th, and 39th minute were Durell Washington, Joshua Joseph, Jaden Daniels and Rondell Reid.
On the other hand, Waramuri edged President’s College 2-1 via goals from Shaleel Marks and Ricardo Lewis in the 10th and 21st minute respectively. On target in the loss was Ajiande Isaacs in the 28th minute.
Meanwhile, ExxonMobil Community Relations Advisor Ryan Hoppie presented team uniforms to the Waramuri and Bartica girls teams. The event continues on Saturday at the same venue with another round of matches. Below features the complete list of results.
