Husband and wife held after suspected ecstasy, cocaine found

-

Police ranks from Regional Division #6, Special Branch and members of the Customs AntiNarcotic Unit (CANU) conducted an intelligencelead raid earlier this week at the home of Jagdeo Ramdass of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, during which they found suspected ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana.

The ranks, during a search of the premises, found a plastic bag with 81 ziploc packets containing tablet-like substances suspected to be ecstasy, a release yesterday from the police said. The ranks also found suspected cocaine and marijuana.

Ramdass along with his wife were arrested and taken to Springlands Police Station where they were placed in custody. The man admitted knowledge of the marijuana but denied knowledge of the suspected cocaine or the suspected ecstasy, the release added.

Shaquawn Alleyne known as `Iswe boss’ who was wanted for the murder of Shonette Dover in April 2021 at Wismar, Linden, was arrested in Suriname yesterday.

According to Waterkant, a Suriname media outlet, Alleyne was arrested by members of the Regio Bijstand Team Paramaribo. The report stated that Guyanese police had a strong suspicion that the suspect had fled to Suriname, in order to avoid arrest.

In 2021, Alleyne allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, 20-year-old Shonette Dover, who was a bartender of Canvas City, Wismar, Linden. Dover was reported missing and her partially decomposed body was found in her yard at Canvas City. The body was apparently buried after Dover was shot dead.

Police, acting on information, went into action and dug up the area about four feet down during which they stumbled upon the body of a female, partly decomposed.
