However, recent online attacks on Pandit Deodat Persaud, a devoted advocate of Guyana’s nationbuilding process, through his unwavering belief in Guyana’s potential has demonstrated a genuine passion for the betterment of his homeland. His contributions, both online and offline, have offered a fresh perspective, questioned policies, and presented alternative views - all of which are hallmarks of a healthy democracy. Yet, it is disheartening to witness the online onslaught against him merely because his views do not align with those in power. These attacks reflect a dangerous mindset that seeks to stifle debate and discourage critical thinking, all under the banner of supporting the PPP administration.

We must firmly condemn the individuals responsible for these online attacks. Their actions go against the very essence of democracy, attempting to silence a voice that counters the dominant rhetoric. This raises questions about their dedication to democratic principles and their willingness to foster an inclusive environment where citizens can freely express their opinions.
