Simpson, DeGroot, Fraser victorious in BCQS Squash Masters Championsh­ip

Shawn Simpson, Peter DeGroot, and Lydia Fraser secured convincing wins when the 2024 edition of the BCQS

Squash Masters Championsh­ip continued last evening at the Georgetown Club facility, Camp Street.

In the men’s 30-44 segment, Simpson stormed into the semi-final section after defeating Javid Rahaman in straight sets. Simpson prevailed 11-2 in the first outing before doubling his lead after clinching the second set 11-4. He then closed out the contest after prevailing in the third set, 114.

Similarly, DeGroot overcame a one-set deficit to prevail 3-1. After losing the first set 5-11, DeGroot responded in the second stanza to restore parity to proceeding­s after winning 11-5. He then secured a 2-1 advantage by winning the third set 11-8. The result was then sealed in the fourth set, as DeGroot won 11-6.

Meanwhile, Fraser continued her dominant showing in the Women’s 35 & Over segment, defeating Tian Edwards in straight sets. Fraser raced ahead following an 11-5 win in the first set before doubling her advantage with a commanding 11-2 outcome in the second stanza. The victory was then sealed in the third stanza, following an 11-0 score.
