Rain prevails on day 2 of Harpy Eagles vs Red Force

After the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force batsmen, led by Jason Mohamed’s marathon 100 not out made the Guyana Harpy Eagles bowlers sweat on day one, persistent showers of rain prevented any further action on day two of their first round encounter in the West Indies FourDay Championsh­ip.

The players were unable to taking the field at the Conaree Sports Club due to persistent rainfall, which inundated playing surface.

The umpires called off the day’s play just before lunch. At the conclusion of day one, the Red Force had accumulate­d 215/4, with Jason Mohammed’s 12th first class century the highlight of the Red Force innings thus far while Tion Webster shared in a century stand with him, making 50 in the process.

The Harpy Eagles bowlers found the going tough on a flat pitch with Ronsford Beaton (2/39, 12 overs) and Veerasammy Permaul (2/40, 25 overs) the only ones to taste success.

Rain also had the final say at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, as no play was possible on day two between the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Academy and the Leeward Island Hurricanes. The CWI

Academy are on 60/2 after dismissing the Hurricanes for 137.

Over at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, the home side, the Scorpions are struggling on 76/4 in the second innings in response to the Windward Islands first innings score of 341. Nkrumah Bonner is unbeaten on 36. Jamaica were dismissed for 159 in the first innings.

Darius Martin was the pick of the bowlers for the Volcanoes in the second innings with figures of 3-29, as Johann Jeremiah, Shamar Springer, Ryan John, and Sunil Ambris 45 led the team’s batting effort at the start of day two with scores of 80, 71, 57, and 45 respective­ly.

Meanwhile, at Chedwin Park in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Barbados Pride led by a Kevin Wickham century of 139 and a Jonathan Drakes 80, tallied 344/8 declared against the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) Marooners. Contributi­ng with 41 and 30 runs respective­ly were Shane Dowrich and Zachary McCaskie.

Bowling for the Marooners, Romario Greaves snared 2-54, while Jediah Blades tallied 2-64, and Zishan Motara recorded 2-68. In response, CCC currently sit on 10/1.
