Out-of-control truck careens into cars, business at Herstellin­g

Two cars were damaged and a business destroyed on Sunday morning after a driver lost control of his truck at Herstellin­g, East Bank Demerara.

According to the Regional Commander, Superinten­dent Krishnadat Ramana the driver of the truck was proceeding on the eastern carriagewa­y when he claimed that he fell asleep. As a result of that his truck went over the median into the next lane and into the yard with the two cars and the business, EZVS NYC Eats and Lounge.

When the driver took a breathalyz­er test, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and will be charged this week. He was released on station bail in the amount of $200,000 yesterday.

Lalita Rajman who resides at 60 Herstellin­g Public Road and along with her husband are owners of the home and rent the space to EZVS NYC Eats Lounge told Stabroek News that her son’s car,

PKK 9071 was also damaged in the crash.

rents. He relayed that everyone woke up and quickly ran outside to see what had happened.

He related that when they all went outside, there was dust everywhere and they saw the driver and other occupants getting off the truck. He added that almost everything including the business’s shed was in their yard.

He requesting to be fully compensate­d for the damage to his car because his family including his sick brother and other family members use it for every-day transporta­tion.
