Unicomer says accelerating works at East Bank commercial complex

-

Unicomer (Guyana) says it has accelerated works at its investment projects here as the company expects increased economic growth.

The commercial complex on the East Bank of Demerara, now formally named RiverPlace and the Logistics Park at Houston Demerara, represent one of the largest investments by the company in Guyana, totalling approximately $11 billion dollars, according to a press release from the company.

The company, through its real estate development and property management division, Redstart, notes that there has been increased interest in both RiverPlace and the Logistics Park. Interested parties are encouraged to secure spaces early. The two construction projects commenced in May 2023 and are expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Vincent Gordon, Sub-regional Managing Director for Unicomer Guyana and the Dutch

Caribbean says that the company has been buoyed by the growth in the Guyanese economy and the company is prepared to accelerate its investments to keep up with the pace of development in the country. “Unicomer is creating a facility that will reflect the development trajectory of Guyana and will bring brands and facilities that are in keeping with the country’s vision for sustainable progress.”

Two facilities at the same time

Unicomer said the RiverPlace commercial complex will have 116,000 square feet of leasable space and will be one of the largest in Guyana. It will also be the main home for Courts Mega Store and the Ashley Home store. In addition to approximately 396 parking spaces, Unicomer said the facility will be a modern complex that raises the bar for the retail experience in Guyana. The Houston Logistics Complex will house up to 400,000 square feet of logistics space for warehousing, distribution and logistics and support services. Unicomer says this strategic development aims to bolster logistical capabilities in the region and support efficient supply chain operations.

In the initial phase of the project, the Unicomer Group will relocate its existing distribution centre into the 120,000 square feet of warehousing space at the compound. The park is expected to provide state-of-the-art facilities for storage, distribution, and other logisticsrelated activities, contributing to the area’s economic growth and infrastructure development. Persons interested in leasing or occupying spaces in either the RiverPlace commercial complex or Logistics Park are encouraged to send an expression of interest via email to DLGYLeasing@unicomer.com.
