Belle Vue, Windsor Forest, Wales win in ‘Jits and Neelam’ cricket
Belle Vue, Windsor Forest, Wales recorded comfortable wins when the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship continued on Sunday.
At the Belle Vue Ground, the Hosts defeated Rising Stars by 37 runs. Batting first, Belle Vue amassed 218 in 37.3 overs. Krishna Singh fell two runs short of a century on 98 [5x6s, 10x4s]. He was supported by the duo of Waylon Renville and Dyal Rajpat, who scored 36 and 26 runs respectively.
Marvin Cheong was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-23 in eight overs, while Shaquille Brisport tallied 333 and Tony Smith snared 2-19.
In reply, Rising Stars were dismissed 181 in 33.5 overs. Brisport and Smith top scored with 28 and 24 runs respectively. For Belle Vue, Singh recorded 2-18, while Lucian Sam and Rajpat tallied 2-17 and 231 respectively.
At the Zeelugt Ground, Windsor Forest defeated VNS Cricket Club by 48 runs. Batting first, Windsor Forest recorded 239, with Hemchand Bisnauth leading the way with 95 runs. He was supported by Dhaniram Azamudeen, who added 64 runs.
Bowling for VNS, Aditya Kadarnauuth recorded figures of 4-27 in 7.3 overs, while Altaf Khan registered 3-42 and Mohan Chaitram tallied 2-34. In response, VNS was dismissed for 191. Kadarnauuth top scored with an unbeaten 84 [2x6s, 11x4s], while Kennard Lewis and Chaitram contributed 29 and 26 runs apiece.
Over at the Canal Ground, Wales defeated Meten-Meer-Zorg Defenders by 65 runs. Batting first Wales were skittled for 148, with Kevin Lindo anchoring the batting with 68 [4x6s, 5x4s]. Adding 23 was Chandrika Persaud.
Levroy Miggins was the main threat with the ball as he recorded 3-21 in six overs. In reply, the Defenders were bundled out for a paltry 83. Mahendra Nandkishore top scored with 35. Persaud was the architect of the win with figures of
6–38 in six overs.
Meanwhile at the West Meten-MeerZorg-Ground, Shamrock defeated the hosts by 72 runs. Batting first, Shamrock recorded 266 all out, with Tameshwar Dass, Adesh Dass, Nathram Das and Vickash Ramjattan scored 55, 50, 43, and 35 runs respectively.
Navindra Sankar recorded 3-28 while Dinesh George supported with 2-44 for the hosts. In reply, Meten-Meer-Zorg were dismissed for 194. Captain Jermaine Maxwell top scored with 72. For the bowlers, Khandaiya Ramkarran amassed 3-31, while Mukesh Persaud assisted with 2-27.
