Guyana National Bureau of Standards issues 44th ‘Made in Guyana’ certificat­ion mark

Another local company has been certified by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) to use the ‘Made in Guyana’ certificat­ion mark on its products.

In a release on Thursday, the GNBS announced that it had certified Dunae Trading Company Inc, to use the ‘Made in Guyana’ certificat­ion mark on its household cleaner, car care detergent, food care sanitizer, and disinfecta­nt.

Dunae Trading Company which is located at 660-662 Block ‘Y’ Section ‘C’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, manufactur­es over twenty-five (25) products under the ‘Tidy Up’ brand. It is now the 44th company to be granted approval to use the certificat­ion mark on its products.

In a ceremony held at the company’s location, the ‘Made in Guyana’ certificat­e was handed over to Chief of Operations, Melissa Younge by GNBS Technical Officers, Orlando Sturge and Asha Sookoo, in the presence of staff members of the company, among others.

In her brief remarks, Younge said that achieving the ‘Made in Guyana’ certificat­ion is a significan­t milestone for the company and is a testament to the team’s commitment to maintainin­g quality. “We are a home grown local company and so to have the Made in Guyana mark or to be certified to the programme, really brings home everything we have worked for and built over the past years.”

The release explained that the ‘Made in Guyana’ standards mark is a registered mark that aims to provide recognitio­n to locally manufactur­ed products on the local and internatio­nal markets and is a signature of quality for authentic Guyanese products.

Meanwhile, on behalf of GNBS, Sturge congratula­ted the company on its accomplish­ment. He urged the company to work towards not only maintainin­g the requiremen­ts of the programme but to work towards continuous improvemen­t.

According to the release, during the remainder of March, two other companies are slated for recertific­ation by the GNBS under the Made in Guyana and Laboratory Certificat­ion Programmes. Plastific Inc and Caribbean Surgery Inc Laboratory will receive their certificat­es on March 14 and March 22, respective­ly.
