Education Ministry unveils new primary textbooks
he Ministry of Education yesteray unveiled its latest Primary textook series, “Mathematics Made asy” and “Guyanese in the World”, at the Round House in Kingston, Georgetown.
Chief Education Officer of iteracy, Stembiso Grant, told those n attendance that the textbooks were meticulously structured to ddress the demand for culturally elevant materials and to consistenty enhance and modernise the eduation system, with the aim of elivering a “world class educaon.” While the books take into ccount global requirements and ends, their content remains closely ed to the local context, thereby mplifying their efficacy within the lassroom.
The “Social Studies: Guyanese n the world” text book will be vailable for students in grades One o Four while “Mathematics: Made asy” will be available for grades One to Three. The new math textook will give each child access to
comprehensive and contextual pproach to Mathematics, while the ocial Studies textbook will proide the lessons on societal and nvironmental norms and etiquette, long with the various resources
across Guyana.
Both books were crafted with engaging attractive illustrations, and a modern curriculum with a child-friendly approach to learning by simplifying the concepts. They also contain an activities section which will allow the students to have an interactive sessions.
The launch was attended by students from seven primary schools,
namely: Swan Primary, LindenSoesdyke Highway; Laluni Primary, Linden-Soesdyke Highway; St Margaret’s Primary, Georgetown, Peter’s Hall Primary, East Bank Demerara; Yarrowkabra Primary, Linden-Soesdyke Highway; St Cuthberts Primary, Demerara/Mahaica; and Kurukuru Primary, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
