Honduras with its capital Tegucigalpa, is located in the center of the American continent, specifically in Central America. It is the second largest country in Central America, its size is similar to the State of Ohio in the US and a little larger than Belgium. Honduras has the most rugged geography in all of Central America, almost 75% of its territorial extension has an inclination of 25 degrees or more. Interestingly, it is the only country in this area where there are no volcanoes. Bounding on the North with the Caribbean Sea, on the South with El Salvador, the Golfo de Fonseca and Nicaragua, and on the West with Guatemala. Honduras is composed of 18 departments and a Central District where the capital ,Tegucigalpa, is located .Currently Honduras has five large tourist districts. The first is La Joya de los Lagos (Jewel of the Lakes), made up of Lake Yojoa, the Pulhapanzak waterfalls, the Taulabé caves, the Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park, Los Naranjos Eco Archaeological Park, the Santa Bárbara Mountain National Park and the dam hydroelectric power station. The second is the Ruta del Sol (The Sun Route), consisting of Ojojona, Santa Ana, San Buenaventura, Sabanagrande, Pespire, El Jícaro and San Lorenzo. The third is the LencaMaya composed of La Paz, Guajiquiro and Marcala, in La Paz: Intibucá, La Esperanza, Yamaranguila and San Juan, in Intibucá: Gracias and La Campa, in Lempira, and Santa Rosa de Copán and Copán Ruinas, in Copán. The fourth named La Ruta de los Delfines (The Dolphin Route) composed La Ceiba, Tela, Cayos Cochinos, Islas de la Bahía(bay Islands): Roatán, Guanaja and Utila, ending in Trujillo. The fifth district named Los Valles y Montañas(the Valleys and Mountains), the newest, contemplates Yuscarán, San Antonio de Oriente, Cantarranas, Villa de San Francisco, Valle de Ángeles and Santa Lucía. All created to encourage even more Honduras attractions.
