La Esperanza
La Esperanza es la ciudad más alta de toda Honduras, lo que la convierte en una de las más frías, además junto a Intibucá son conocidas como las ciudades gemelas, son tan cercanas y similares que usualmente los visitantes no pueden distinguir una de la otra. Al igual que La Esperanza, Intibucá se encuentra a 1,700 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Estas ciudades se encuentran entre la Sierra de Puca, Opalaca y la Montaña Zapochoco. Ambas poseen su propio alcalde, su propia iglesia católica y su propio mercado. La Esperanza es la cabecera departamental del departamento de Intibucá, e Intibucá es un municipio de este departamento. En el municipio de Intibucá su población es mayoritariamente Lenca, y en La Esperanza es mayoritariamente ladina (mestiza). La cercanía de estos municipios es tal que incluso comparten el parque central. Al no existir límites señalados entre ellas, usualmente se perciben como una sola ciudad. Gran parte de pobladores del departamento de Intibucá se dedican el cultivo de mo- ras, fresas, duraznos, manzanas y maíz, son los mayores productores de papa del país. Los textiles y la alfarería en barro blanco son las principales actividades que aportan al desarrollo económico del pueblo Lenca, así como la producción de vinos, frutas en almibar y el aprovechamiento del turismo rural. La riqueza cultural, natural y religiosa que ofrece tanto el departamento de Intibucá como el municipio de La Esperanza indican que este destino no puede quedar fuera de la ruta Lenca en el occidente. Gracias a esto anualmente se realiza el Festival del Choro y el Vino en donde muchos visitantes llegan al lugar en espera de poder disfrutar los mejores platillos a base de choros, vinos artesanales, textiles lenca y las actividades culturales que reflejan la unión de ambas ciudades.
La Esperanza is the highest city in all of Honduras, which makes it one of the coldest. In addition, La Esperanza and Intibucá are known as twin cities, they are so close and similar, that usually visitors cannot distinguish one from the other. Just like La Esperanza, Intibucá is 1,700 meters above sea level. These cities are located between the Sierra de Puca, Opalaca and the Zapochoco Mountain. Both have their own mayor, their own Catholic church and their own market. La Esperanza is the departmental capital of the department of Intibucá, and Intibucá is a municipality of this department. In the municipality of Intibucá its population is mostly Lenca, in La Esperanza it is mostly Ladino (mestizo). The proximity of these towns is such, that they even share the same central park. Because of the absence of marked boundaries between them, they are usually perceived as a single city. A large part of the inhabitants of the department of Intibucá are dedicated to the cultivation of blackberries, strawber- ries, peaches, apples and corn. They are also the largest producer of potatoes in the country. Textiles and white clay pottery are other main activities that contribute to the economic development of the Lenca people, as well as the production of wine, fruit in syrup and the rural tourism. The cultural, natural and religious wealth offered by both the department of Intibucá and the municipality of La Esperanza indicate that this destination cannot be left out of the Lenca route in the Western part. Thanks to this, the Festival del Choro y el Vino is held annually, where many visitors come to the place hoping to enjoy the best dishes based on choros, artisan wine, lenca textiles and cultural activities that show the union of both cities.

LA GRUTA
La historia cuenta que La Gruta fue hecha por indicaciones del comandante de armas J. Inés Pérez, que supuestamente la construyó para cumplir una promesa que hizo. La ermita está dedicada a la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción y es el escenario por excelencia utilizado para las representaciones religiosas de Semana Santa. The story goes that La Gruta was made by indications of the arms commander J. Inés Pérez, who supposedly built it to fulfill a promise he made. The hermitage is dedicated to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception and is the stage used for the religious representations in Holy Week.
LAGUNA de CHILIGATORO
Un paraíso terrenal ubicado a más de 1,850 msnm es la Laguna de Chiligatoro. La indiscutible paz que se siente en este lugar es perfecta para olvidarse de todo y solamente relajarse. LA IGLESIA de INTIBUCÁ
Perfecto referente de la época colonial, esta iglesia fue construida en 1790 y es la más antigua de las iglesias en ambas ciudades. Su gran nave central y exquisitas pinturas modernas en la parte interior de su cúpula son imperdibles. Ubicada en barrio El Centro, frente a Parque López.
