Called the Sultana de Occidente, Santa Rosa de Copán is the most important commercial and political city in the West of Honduras. The city is connected by the inter-american highway of the west with the city of San Pedro Sula,to the east, and with the borders of El Poy, El Salvador,and Agua Caliente, to the west, of Guatemala: which makes it an important geographical point.
