Bonhams auction house strikes gold in Southeast Asia

Art and jewellery enthusiasts are in for a visual feast this month as Bonhams auction house presents an exceptional collection of rare Southeast Asian artefacts alongside modern paintings from the region. The more than 400 pieces of art and jewellery in Ritual + Culture include earrings and ancient gold rings from the ninth to 19th centuries, as well as gold ornaments from Bali, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi and several other parts of the Indonesian archipelago. A highlight is a set of Balinese gold kris handles with rubies and precious stones estimated at US$3,000-$4,000. The showcase, starting September 26 at One Pacific Place, precedes an online auction being held from October 3 to 11.
