Naomi is a New Zealand-based journalist and author of World of WearableArt: 30 Designers Tell Their Stories. On page 46, she and her husband drove around New Zealand’s South Island on their honeymoon. Where are you from? ‘I’m a fifth-generation New Zealander who grew up in the Bay of Plenty in the upper North Island. Where are you from? ‘I am from a place forged of dreams, of history, of coincidence and of hard work. I’m from a place of insufferable adjectives and 10,000 silly ways to say “East meets West”. Author and award-winning journalist Simon has worked for the Financial Times since 1994. He wrote about his third culture family on page 42. Where are you from? ‘Born in Uganda to expat South African-turned-British parents, I grew up in London, Jamaica, Sweden, the Netherlands and the US; studied in Britain, Germany and the US; and for the last 15 years have lived in Paris.’
