Western Australia is the epitome of the family-friendly destination. I should know; I grew up there. Weekends at the beach, sunbaked barbecues, wild kangaroos bouncing through parks and vast grassy spaces are all quintessential elements of the Perth lifestyle. And it’s all stuff that any family passing through can get a taste of. Here’s how…

ROTTNEST ISLAND

Or ‘Rotto’ to the locals. A 30-minute ferry from Fremantle gets you to one of Perth’s most revered getaways: an island of sparkling bays, leisurely cycling and quokkas (right) – the only place in the world you’ll see these marsupials.

COTTESLOE BEACH

Perth’s best beach? It’s a controversial topic. Scarborough, Trigg and Port might be part of the conversation, but Cottesloe Beach is my pick. Grab some fish and chips for lunch on the grass, take a dip in the perfect waters and Instagram away. Beware: seagulls are expert picnic stealers.

KANGAROOS

You (and the kids) will probably want to see kangaroos. Perth has you covered. Perth Zoo has the widest range of native fauna, but for a more intimate experience (petting and feeding), visit Caversham Wildlife Park.

KINGS PARK

This four-square-kilometre urban park has some of the best views over Perth. But hidden amid the swathes of bushland are little gems for the kids: the new Naturescape is full of rustic exploration, while the Synergy Parkland is the old favourite with its adventure playground.

ELIZABETH QUAY

This quay is Perth’s newest landmark: a riverfront hub of restaurants, bars and, at the moment, construction. But there are also playgrounds (one with water), as well as a replica of the Duyfken, the 17th century Dutch ship that led the very first European landing on Australian soil.

哪一個是珀斯最好的海灘？答案可能眾說紛紜。斯卡波羅海灘、特里格海灘和港口海灘可能都會榜上有名，但我的心水肯定是柯特索海灘。可以買炸點 魚薯條當午餐，坐在草地上慢慢吃；也可以跳進澈清 的海水裡暢泳一番，再拍張照片上載到IG與好友分享。不過要當心，防鷗提 海 偷你吃 的野餐食物。

袋鼠

你孩和 子們要是想看袋鼠的話，珀斯絕對可以滿你願足 的 望。珀動斯物內園 擁有的本地原生動物種類最繁多，但如果撫想 摸和餵飼動物，更作 親密的接觸，可以前往卡弗沙姆野生動物園。

國王公園

這個位於市區、佔地四平方公里的公園擁有最佳的城市景觀，但灌木叢背後有還 更多吸引孩童的遊樂地點。園新公 內 設的Naturescape遊樂場充滿樸實自然的索探遊戲，而Synergy Parkland則是一個歷奇遊樂場，向來是小朋友最愛的地方。

伊麗沙伯碼頭

這個碼頭是珀斯最新的地標，濱，沿河 而建雲集多家餐館和酒吧，目尚許正前 有 多 在興建的設施。這裡設有多個遊樂場，包括一個水上樂園，還有艘製一 仿 17世紀的荷蘭隻船 Duyfken號的複製品，當歐人年 洲便是乘Duyfken號首次發現並踏足澳洲。
