THE NEW DISCOVERY

-

LUCKY YOU. The issue you’re holding is the first of a reinvigorated Discovery magazine. We’re bringing you more inspiration, more information, more intelligent travel than ever before, and you get to see it all first.

What do we have in store? Well – in our Discoveries section (just turn the page, but do read this first), we have all that’s amazing from across the globe. From awesome events (orange fights! drag nights!) to stunning nature to game-changing hotels, it’s all on show.

In our Hong Kong section (p20), we’ve got exactly what you need to do this month and who you need to know in our home city – plus a taste of the Greater Bay Area too.

In our Explore section (p28), we’re bringing you the world. We visit two sides of Bhutan on p32 – both the better-known west and the less trodden east. On p42, we find out how to create a pop-up restaurant at Everest Base Camp (it requires ingenuity, pumpkins and a low-flying drone). On p46, we meet the people coming together to forge a new identity for the world’s Chinatowns. Meanwhile on p56, we – well, I – discover the waters of Valencia (pictured): the many ways water has shaped, and in turn been shaped by, Spain’s third city. It involves flooding, white elephants and a cocktail that will lay you very, very low.

And in our all-new entertainment section starting on p79, we’re going deeper than ever on our wealth of inflight fun. We’re showing you just how much there is to watch, what should grab your eyeballs – and in one case, we’re just straight-out telling you what to cue up (my choice? Roman Holiday. Check out p91 for the details).

Like I said – lucky you. Enjoy this issue, and enjoy your flight. May it be smooth, swift and everything you’d hoped for.
