Phoenix Peninsula Boasting a newly recognized “national tourism and resort zone”, the Phoenix Peninsula in Qingdao’s Huangdao district is rapidly becoming one of China’s leading resort destinations. From last summer, Phoenix Peninsula has been one of the two main venues for the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival. This year’s 26th Qingdao International Beer Festival Huangdao Venue will also place along the golden beach from July 29 to August 29. Festival organizers have upgraded both the infrastructure and a number of operational features of the venue, including the landscape. The festival highlights Qingdao’s first live outdoor show, a newly-built beer culture museum, a robot dance show, beer tents of multinational beer brands, lights show as well as a boulevard of stars. They have also built a beer garden street featuring wooden houses and a beach boardwalk.

Festival fun Starting August 13, the 26th Qingdao International Beer Festival will officially kick off a 16-day beer bash at its main venue, the Beer City in Century Square, Laoshan district. So far, beer pavilions have been set up, with the largest at 2,000 square meters. Inheriting the festival’s original concept of creating a refined cultural and leisure event with unique characteristics, the festival will continue to highlight its signature Beer King drinking contest, the massive party at Beer Plaza. This year’s festival will also incorporate participation from bars, restaurants and other entertainment facilities around the area to attract even more visitors to the district.

A few pints at Pingdu Pingdu, a county-level city in northern Qingdao, will be one of the parallel venues for the 26th Qingdao International Beer Festival. It will start even earlier on July 22 and close on August 21. With the theme of Summer Revelry, Pingdu beer festival’s highlights will include cultural entertainment activities, a tourism products exhibit, an art talent show as well as a martial arts competition and a public basketball competition — and, of course, beer drinking. To date, the main stage at the Pingdu beer venue has been completed. It has a floor space of 3,600 square meters and can hold 3,000 people.
