On Sept 11 over at New York Fashion Week Victoria Beckham presented her SS17 collection in the financial district of the city, presenting a more easy going collection with an effortless, throwntogether feel.

After the show, Victoria Beckham joined The Telegraph’s Fashion Director Lisa Armstrong to talk through all aspects of the collection on Telegraph Fashion’s Facebook page.

David Beckham and 17-year-old Brooklyn Beckham were on the front row this season, but Romeo, Cruz and Harper were at home. “The other children are at school and have only just gone back after a long summer break — but Brooklyn is doing A Levels so it’s easier for him to travel and he will be home in time for school,” explained Victoria. “I love having them here and I miss them.”

“David only arrived yesterday, and he’s so great. I couldn’t do any of this without him,” Victoria said about her husband David. “He is very supportive and it means I can come away and work and know he is being the best dad looking after the kids. We work very well together, because David travels a lot and when he travels I am at home. There is always someone there with the children.”

As for her approach to work Beckham added: “I do like to make things difficult for myself and my team, just from taking on a challenge if you like. The velvet for example, I haven’t worked velvet for such a long time, because it’s something that normally feels old and heavy, but this is something which is super light and in bright colours.”

A key part of the collection was the bra tops, which Victoria Beckham said was an expansion on last season’s play with corsetry. When discussing how you can now dress sexily in an interesting way Beckham explained: “I think you can look sexy in — well I’d like to think I look a little bit sexy today! Sexy is aboutthewayyouwearsomething and being confident — the clothes are sexy and flattering. I’ve said right from the beginning it’s very important clothes are flattering. I want a woman to look and feel like the best version of herself.”

She describes herself as a ‘geek’ when it came to the product development. “When they first approached me they came to my house in LA and I had an entire dining room table of things that I have collected over the years,” Beckham explains. “I have done so many photo shoots, red carpets, and worked with the best makeup artists and I really had a point of view. I gave them lipsticks I mixed up, and eye shadows that I loved. I had a lot of makeup bags full and knew what I wanted to create. It was the key makeup things I wanted, but haven’t been able to find. I have learnt so much over the years and want to share my tips. Ultimately I really like women and want women to feel good.”
