CHINA-SWITZERLAND COOPERATION

In February 1989, China and Switzerland signed the Sino-Swiss Agreement for Technological Cooperation, establishing intergovernmental relations in technological cooperation. Switzerland set up its fourth overseas research and education collaboration office, Swissnex, in Shanghai in August 2008.
INVESTMENT IN CHINA
Switzerland started its investment in China in 1982. The first joint-venture enterprise China approved was the Sino-Swiss Joint Venture Schindler Elevator Co Ltd By April 2016, China had a total of 1,720 investment projects involving Swiss enterprises, with the actual input exceeding $6 billion.
BILATERAL TRADE
Switzerland is China’s seventh-largest trading partner in Europe. China is Switzerland's largest trading partner in Asia. In 2015, bilateral trade volume reached $44.27 billion, with year-on-year growth of 1.7%. China's imports from Switzerland are mainly mechanical and electrical products, chemical and pharmaceutical products, optical instruments, medical equipment and clocks.
TRAVEL
In May 1998, the China National Tourism Administration set up a tourist office in Zurich. In March 1999, the Swiss National Tourism Office was established in Beijing. The number of tourists from the Chinese mainland to Switzerland reached
1.02 million between January and October last year, making China its fifth-largest source of tourists.
