Fujifilm’s mirrorless sensor shooter ready
Fujifilm Holdings Corp, the Japanese photography and imaging company, has unveiled GFX 50S, a mirrorless mediumformat sensor camera. Its new shooter comes with a massive 51.4-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 117-point autofocus system and 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen. But it does not support 4K video. The gadget is set to hit stores in late February for $6,500 (bodyonly). Though the price seems to be very high, it is considerably lower than a competitor like Hasselblad’s X1D, which sells for roughly $9,000.
Shenzhen startup launches VR camera
Insta 360, a Shenzhen-based company, launched a 360-degree panoramic camera that can be attached to a smartphone. Insta 360 Air, as the gadget is called, allows users to take 3K panoramic stills or film 2K videos. Consumers can also use it to take unique selfies using various modes (flat, sphere, VR and planet). The images and videos can all be shared on social networks directly. It is seen as an entrylevel hardware for the virtual reality industry.
AOC releases curvy gaming monitor
AOC, a Wuhan-based display manufacturer, has unveiled a premium gaming monitor which is curved and ultra-wide, to target e-sports players. The AOC Agon AG352UCG is a large 35-inch panel with a curvature radius of 2000mm. With NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology, Pascal graphics cards will be kept in perfect lockstep with the display panel, while helping reduce screen tearing. Incorporating flicker-free tech, the display is easier on the eyes, and a low blue light option is thrown in towards the same end. The new product will be launched in March for 799 pounds ($997).
Leica M10 produces high-resolution images
German optics company Leica Microsystems IR GmbH recently unveiled a camera M10. Utilizing a redeveloped 24MP full-frame CMOS sensor and Maestro II image processor, the gadget yields high-resolution imagery with an extended dynamic range high sensitivity to ISO 50000 and a continuous shooting rate of five frames per second. Equipped with an integrated Wi-Fi module, it enables wireless sharing and remote camera control via mobile devices. Priced $6,596, the new product comes in two colors, black and silver, weighing only 660g with battery and cards.
