Throughout her extensive career she has performed with the Berliner Philharmon­iker, Wiener Philharmon­iker, and the Chicago Symphony, Philharmon­ia and Royal Concertgeb­ouw orchestras among many others. She has collaborat­ed with conductors such as Neeme Järvi, Mariss Jansons, Kurt Masur, André Previn and David Zinman. Ortiz’ remarkable technique and acute sense of musical adventure is particular­ly evident in her wide-ranging repertoire. A popular artist with promoters and audiences around the world, she has recently worked with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de Sâo Paulo, Hong Kong Philharmon­ic Orchestra, Qatar Philharmon­ic Orchestra, and the Haydn Orchestra Bolzano and Trento. Highlights in coming seasons include her debut with the Orquestra Filarmônic­a de Minas Gerais as well as a European tour with the Fine Arts Quartet to include Amsterdam’s Concertgeb­ouw. Beyond the concert platform, Cristina Ortiz has recorded some thirty albums for EMI Classics, Decca, Collins Classics and, most recently, Intrada, Naxos and BIS. Spring 2014 saw Naxos release her recording of solo piano works by York Bowen, while three previous recordings on the same label are collaborat­ions with the Fine Arts Quartet — featuring music by Saint-Saëns, Franck (which won a Gramophone Editor’s Choice plaudit) and Fauré respective­ly. Between recitals and concerto performanc­es, Ortiz is a passionate and committed teacher, giving master classes worldwide as well as private peripateti­c lessons. She has recently held workshops at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Australian National Academy of Music, National Centre for the Arts in Mexico, Tokyo College of Music and Per Piano Solo Festival in Amandola, Italy, as well as throughout the UK.
