Clean coal power

-

Liu Bingjiang, director of the atmospheric environment management department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, told the media recently that China will establish the world’s biggest clean and high-efficient coal power system by 2020.

According to Liu, the emission of pollutants by the coal power industry accounts for about a half of the country’s overall pollutant emissions, which is the highest emission rates among all the industries in China. Since 2014, China’s coal power industry has been pursuing an ultra-low emissions industrial transformation.

In 2015, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration jointly issued a work plan for the transformation of coal-fired power plants to make them all ultra-low emission and energy-saving by 2020.

“Up till now, the transformation has been completed in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and basically achieved in the eastern region,” Liu said.

According to the China Clean Coal Power Development Report released by China Electricity Council recently, air pollution control equipment has been fully installed in China’s coal power plates, and China’s coal power pollution control technology has generally attained the world’s advanced level.

In the next stage, air pollution management will focus on non-power industries, especially high-polluting iron and steel, cement and the electrolytic aluminum industries.
