Meitu appoints Cheng Yu as COO

Cheng Yu, former vice-president of social media platform Sina Weibo, was appointed chief operating officer of photoediti­ng app Meitu this month. Cheng will be in charge of commercial­ization of products. Cheng has over 17 years of experience in finance and technology. Wu Xinhong, founder and CEO of Meitu, said he believed Cheng’s experience with Weibo and Microsoft make him a perfect fit for the job. Gree Electric director Xu Zifa steps down

Xu Zifa, director at Gree Electric Appliance Inc, submitted his resignatio­n earlier this month. Xu was reported to have bought 57.53 million shares of the company in November 2016 and sold 40 million shares this May. These reported deals, which raised suspicions of insider trading, brought him under the regulatory scanner. In his defence, Xu said he was unfamiliar with the laws and regulation­s concerned and was willing to apologize for his “negative influence” on the company. LeCloud CEO Wu Yazhou resigns

Wu Yazhou, CEO of LeCloud, and vice-president of the strategic project management department of China’s videostrea­ming website Le.com, has resigned. His exit took effect on Nov 15. Wu reaffirmed his confidence in LeEco’s ecosystem despite criticism of the underlying business philosophy. Wu said he looked forward to its reform and innovation under a new management team.
