Walmart promotes Chen to CEO of China arm Dirk Van den Berghe, vice-president of Walmart Canada Corp and regional CEO of Walmart Asia Pte Ltd, promoted Chen Wenyuan (pictured) to president and CEO of Walmart China Co Ltd. Andrew Miles will be Chen’s deputy. Chen said multichann­el sales have great potential in China and he feels privileged to lead Walmart in expanding its Chinese business. Chen also said he will work on enhancing online and offline shopping experience for customers. Van den Berghe said the company will have more efficient operations under Chen’s leadership. Before, Chen served as a regional president at McDonald’s and as a senior consultant at Boston Consulting Group Inc.

Tang as co-CEO to lead Shengda’s gaming unit Shengda Games appointed Tang Yanwen as its co-CEO. Tang will be responsibl­e for the gaming business, while former CEO Xie Fei will continue in his role and lead the company’s general operations. Tang joined the group in August 2016 and served as Shengda’s COO. During his tenure, his team developed and promoted multiple mobile games likeThe World of Legends. Shengda said Tang’s work has largely contribute­d to the company’s transition to a mobile gaming company.

Alex Lau to be CTO of CCCI of Jiangsu Jiangsu province-based China Commercial Credit Inc, a financial services provider that targets small and medium enterprise­s, has named Alex Lau as its chief technology officer. Lau will report directly to the company’s CEO. He will be responsibl­e for the company’s current tech strategy. The company’s CFO Yi Long said he is confident that Lau will shape up a dynamic and highly qualified management team. Prior to his appointmen­t, Lau served at tech firm Suse as a consultant, and at WeBank and CyberMiles as a blockchain consultant.

Insurer XL names Phil Xue as CEO and arm’s GM Global insurance company XL Group Ltd appointed Phil Xue as CEO. He will also work as general manager of its Shanghai-based subsidiary XL Insurance (China) Co Ltd. The appointmen­ts are pending regulatory approval. Xue will be responsibl­e for coordinati­ng the company’s overall business in China. Prior to joining the group, Xue served Guy Carpenter & Co LLC as head of its Shanghai operations. Xue also worked at its Hong Kong office. Before that, Xue worked at Royal Sun Alliance PLC and China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co Ltd.

Shao Haifeng to lead Autohome as president Automobile informatio­n platform Autohome Inc appointed Shao Haifeng as the company’s new president. Lu Min, chairman and CEO of Autohome, said he is confident that Shao will bring about the company’s future developmen­t, and play a positive role in promoting its financial services businesses. Before joining Autohome, Shao served Ping An Insurance (Group) Co of China Ltd for over 22 years. Shao was responsibl­e for leading the financial services and internet finance divisions.
