I would like to offer three pieces of advice on building a smart society. First, accelerate the process of building China into an Internet power, and build a solid social foundation for the process, which includes speeding up information infrastructure construction, promoting innovative capability in technological industries and strengthening the security of network information. Second, vigorously promote digital economy and make it a development engine for smart society. Third, deepen the merging of various industries and expand the development paths of a smart society, which include speeding up deployment of the industrial Internet, strengthening smart integrated industries, advancing new-generation AI industries and cultivating new forms of integrated development . ... The development of a smart society is a long-term, strategic and systematic project. Building a smart society will be based on the collaborative efforts of everybody.

Chen Zhaoxiong, vice-minister of industry and information technology

No matter how the outside environment changes, the enterprise should have the confidence to conquer the technological difficulties, the determination to increase the investment in research and development, and the patience to build high-quality products, moving toward the goal of internet power.

Sugon was born under the mission of the country developing its own high performance computing. We have developed server, terminal device, storage and security products and solutions, and promoted building a relatively comprehensive and complete industrial chain covering information equipment and systems.

Li Jun, CEO of Dawning Information Industry Co Ltd To be at the forefront of the global technological competition, we need to gear up and innovate in core sectors, as well as develop basic disciplines and scientific research in cutting-edge technologies, such as the artificial intelligence sector. China used to lag behind leading countries in computers and the internet fields. However, today we are gradually catching up with those countries in several emerging industries, including the mobile internet, AI and big data technologies. And we even have become a global leader in some specific fields. Particularly, China has huge application scenarios, such as healthcare and education. In the future, we need to use big data, AI and Internet Plus strategy to solve problems around the application scenarios and social development. And then we will see technological advances and the digital economic development.

Chen Tao, rotating president of iFlytek President Xi’s speech shows that China has attached importance to core information technologies and the country is accelerating steps to make breakthroughs in them. Cheetah Mobile has always focused on innovations in core technologies, including artificial intelligence, and hopes to build a well-rounded technology chain in its robot products. Xi also called for more efforts to promote deep integration between the internet, big data and artificial intelligence, which has profound significance to the prosperous development of China’s internet industry. Going forward, the key of AI lies in the integration of products and technologies, and Cheetah Mobile will beef up its efforts in developing more “made-in-China” innovations.
