Changan Ford names Li Hongpeng as sales head

Car manufactur­er Changan Ford Automobile Corp Ltd, a joint venture between Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd and Ford Motor Co, appointed Li Hongpeng (pictured) as president and Cao Zhenyu as executive vice-president for its newly establishe­d sales group. Li joined Ford this May as vice-president to lead its China marketing and sales operations. Prior, he was senior executive vice-president at Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co Ltd. Cao was deputy general manager for sales at Changan Ford. Before joining Changan Ford, he was the deputy general manager at Changan Automobile.

Tesla Inc appointed James Zhou, a former General Motors Co executive, as its new CFO for China operations. Tesla has seen several hires at executive level as it seeks to improve efficiency and resolve production bottleneck­s for its upcoming Model 3 sedan, according to Reuters, which cited a blog. China contribute­d about 17 percent of Tesla’s total revenue in 2017, and Tesla said it plans to build a factory in the country.

CHJ Automotive Co Ltd appointed Chen Bing as its general manager in charge of strategic decisions related to commuter solutions. Chen said she is confident of CHJ’s future developmen­t of digitaliza­tion and customizat­ion, and her team will seek to attain efficiency. Prior, Chen was CEO of Car2go China Co Ltd, which later merged with Daimler AG’s financing unit. Li Xiang, founder, chairman and CEO of CHJ, said the company will achieve higher business growth under Chen’s leadership.

China National Petroleum Corp or CNPC promoted nonexecuti­ve chairman Zhang Jianhua to executive chairman and president. Zhang has been working in the industry for over 30 years. Before joining CNPC, he served China Petroleum & Chemical Corp and Sinopec Engineerin­g (Group) Co Ltd.

The Lincoln Motor Co, owned by Ford Motor Co, appointed Mao Jingbo as president. Mao will lead Loncoln’s business operations in AsiaPacifi­c and China from July 16 onward. In her new role, Mao will be based in Shanghai and will report to Peter Fleet, vicepresid­ent of Ford, and Robert Parker, who is responsibl­e for Lincoln’s global sales and marketing. Fleet said Mao’s leadership and experience of working for leading luxury auto brands in China make her the ideal person for the position.

AIG names Lisa Sun as CEO of mainland subsidiary

Global insurance provider American Internatio­nal Group Inc appointed Lisa Sun as CEO of its subsidiary AIG Insurance Co China Ltd. Sun has over 20 years of industry experience. Prior, she held various roles at Mercer Inc and Zurich Insurance. Chris Townsend, CEO of Internatio­nal General Insurance Co Ltd, a subsidiary of AIG, expressed confidence in Sun’s leadership.
