airag Technology Ltd unveiled the world’s first wireless agricultural panoramic monitoring product on Monday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.

The newly announced facility, named AGTrace, will help farmers and consumers alike to monitor crops by using high-definition panoramic imaging technology, and to improve the efficiency of using internet of things technologies in the agricultural industry, according to Yi Binghong, CEO of Airag.

“More importantly, the facility will help consumers to trace products to their source, and improve the safety and quality of agricultural products,” Yi said.

The AGTrace facility will collect data such as air and soil temperature, humidity and light intensity, according to Yi.

“By creating a database to support the planting process, farmers will be able to develop market-tailored agricultural products,” said Yi.

The Guangzhou-based company said its mission is to establish data connections between customers and the farming process, according to Yi.

“By providing remote monitoring services, farmers can access information covering the weather, pests and soil, as well as images, from anywhere, and customers can obtain information about the agricultural products from planting and processing through to distribution,” said Yi.

According to Yi, a number of domestic e-commerce service providers such as JD have expressed their interest in cooperating with AIRAG to ensure food safety.

“Our goal is to standardize the agricultural internet of things, agricultural big data analysis to achieve scientific production, food safety authenticity and agricultural product branding and sustainability,” said Yi.

The company’s products are widely used in agricultural industries, currently covering and monitoring 193 crops such as tea and fruits in 1,035 plantations in 20 provinces and autonomous regions nationwide.

“We are also planning to introduce more of our products and services to the overseas market, where the agricultural industry also has great demand for advanced technologies,” said Yi.

According to the CEO, the company’s products have now been used in farms in three overseas countries, with an operation center set to launch in Dubai in September.

“The Dubai operational center, in cooperation with local dealers, will allow us to tap the business opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Yi.

Xu Tongxuan, general manager of Guangzhou International Tea Trade Center, said the newly developed facility would improve customers’ trust in farms and crops.

“Customers may have great interest in visiting the farms, after seeing the realtime images of products. The technology will help improve product branding and safety,” said Xu.
