Xueersi, a subsidiary of leading Chinese education company TAL Education Group, launched a TV series starring celebrities as teachers as part of efforts to promote high-quality and equal education.

The latest TV series, called

invites influential people from different fields including sports, arts and music to share their stories and experiences.

Violinist Lyu Siqing, head coach of the country’s short track speed skating team Li Yan, cross-talk artist Jiang Kun, product designer Shi Dayu and wildlife photographer Xi Zhinong are among some of the program’s wellknown guests.

Bai Yunfeng, president of TAL, said: “Education should help kids to find themselves. We aim to help every Chinese child to grow in a holistic and scientific way.”

Xueersi is an after-school education platform offering quality-oriented courses that stretch beyond basic lessons such as mathematics and English, also covering interest-oriented classes such as sports and art.

During the program, violinist Lyu Siqing recalled spending almost his lifetime practicing the violin, which was usually lonely.

“The most important thing is that you should always be sincere about what you do. Honors are temporary but achievements can be lifelong,” he said.

Speed skating professional Li Yan shared her experiences, from being an athlete to becoming the national team’s head coach. She encouraged children to overcome challenges and to keep improving.

Li also inspired parents to cultivate their kids’ abilities on many levels and to teach them in accordance to their aptitudes.

“It is natural that children are born with different talents. Some are good at sports while some are skilled in expressing themselves. Parents should learn to cultivate their talents and then encourage them to learn,” she said.

Xueersi’s TV series also leverages its parent company’s resources, aiming to promote its programs among children in rural areas to get equal education opportunities.

TAL’s public education project Xiwang Zaixian, which translates as online hope, makes these courses available to children without access to high-quality education.

“As an education company, our mission is to advance education through science and technology. In terms of charitable work, we hope to use technology to drive the balanced development of education,” said Zhang Bangxin, CEO of TAL, earlier in a TAL’s charitable activity.

“To do charity work, we should first fulfill our own responsibilities. In the internet era, it is better that we unite more powers and make use of our technological achievements to promote equal education,” he said.
