Major tasks for this year

On legislation

• Formulating and revising urgently needed laws to deepen market-based reforms and expand high-quality opening-up

• Expediting legislation on public wellbeing, national security, intellectual property rights protection, social governance, ecological advancement and enforcing the principle of law-based taxation

• Deliberating the draft civil code and making laws such as for the promotion of basic health and medical care, real estate tax, export control, community corrections, integrated military-civilian development and supporting veterans

• Revising laws such as the Criminal Law, the Securities Law, the Military Service Law, the Law on the People’s Armed Police Force and the Organic Law of the NPC

• Conducting research for the drafting of laws on biosecurity and Yangtze River conservation

On supervision

• Inspecting the enforcement of six laws: the Law on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, the Law on Renewable Energy, the Fisheries Law, the Law on Promoting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the Law on Promoting Employment and the Higher Education Law

• Hearing work reports from relevant authorities to enhance oversight of the management of State-owned assets, criminal trials and public interest litigation

• Conducting research on the fight against poverty, mitigation of financial risks, reform of the supervision system and enforcement of the Supervision Law

• Carrying out special inquiries on water pollution control, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and public interest litigation
